mime

Wordless theatrical artist

A mime is a performer who acts out scenes using only gestures and body movements, without speaking.

The art form itself is also called mime.

To mime is to perform in this silent, gestural way, or more broadly to move your lips without producing sound: She mimed along to the song.

In computing, MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) standardizes how email attachments and web content are formatted, but in everyday use this appears lowercase in terms like mime type. (All-caps MIME is the technical acronym.)
