parody

Mockery through mimicry

A parody is a humorous imitation that exaggerates the style or content of something—a work of art, a genre, a person—for comic effect or criticism.

Unlike satire, which targets behavior or institutions, parody targets the thing itself: its mannerisms, conventions, clichés.

The film is a parody of action movies.

To parody is to create such an imitation: He parodies politicians on his podcast.
