flash mob
Coordinated public surprise
A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform a brief coordinated action—often a dance, song, or theatrical scene—and then disperse just as quickly.
The events are typically organized through social media or messaging, with participants who may be strangers to each other: A flash mob broke into choreographed dancing in the food court.
The term emerged in the early 2000s.
