Vietnam Memorial
Granite fallen tribute
The Vietnam Memorial is the national monument in Washington, D.C., honoring American service members who died or went missing in the Vietnam War.
Officially called the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, it features a black granite wall inscribed with over 58,000 names.
The stark, reflective design by Maya Lin was controversial when unveiled in 1982 but has become one of America's most visited and emotionally resonant memorials: We found my uncle's name on the Vietnam Memorial.
