populations
Communities of organisms
Populations is the plural of population—the total number of people or organisms living in a particular area, or the act of populating.
Different populations can be compared: The populations of rural counties have declined while urban populations grow.
In statistics, a population is the entire set from which samples are drawn: The study examined three distinct populations.
