Handheld demonstration boards
Placards are signs or notices displayed in public, typically carried in protests or posted for announcements.
Protesters carry placards bearing slogans; workers on strike walk picket lines with placards stating their demands.
The word can also mean any posted notice: Placards warned of construction ahead.
To placard is to post such notices.
