pan-Africanism

Diaspora unity movement

Pan-Africanism is a movement and ideology promoting unity, solidarity, and cooperation among people of African descent worldwide.

It emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, advocating for the political and economic empowerment of African nations and the African diaspora.

The movement influenced independence movements across Africa and continues to shape discussions of African identity and development: Pan-Africanism was central to the formation of the African Union. (Standard capitalization is Pan-Africanism.)
