free movement
Liberty to roam
Free movement is the right to travel, live, and work across borders without legal restrictions such as visas or work permits.
The term appears most often in discussions of the European Union, where citizens of member states enjoy free movement throughout the bloc.
It also applies more broadly to any policy allowing unrestricted passage between jurisdictions.
Brexit ended free movement between the UK and EU.
The phrase sometimes extends metaphorically to unimpeded physical motion: The injury restricted free movement of her shoulder.
