anticolonialism
Against foreign rule
Anticolonialism is opposition to colonial rule—the political stance that colonized peoples should govern themselves rather than be controlled by foreign powers.
The term describes both intellectual movements and armed struggles for independence: Anticolonialism swept through Africa in the 1950s and 60s.
It often overlaps with anti-imperialism but focuses specifically on the relationship between colonizer and colonized.
