Afrocentric

Centering African heritage

Afrocentric describes a perspective that centers African culture, history, and contributions, particularly in education and scholarship.

The term emerged from efforts to counter Eurocentric narratives that marginalized or ignored African achievements: an Afrocentric curriculum, Afrocentric interpretations of ancient Egypt.

Critics sometimes use it dismissively to suggest bias or historical revisionism.
