main deck

Ship's principal floor

The main deck is the principal deck of a ship, typically the uppermost continuous deck running the full length of the vessel.

On warships, it's where the primary armament was historically mounted.

On passenger ships, it often houses key common areas.

The term extends to aircraft carriers, where the main deck is the flight deck: All hands report to the main deck.
