gangway

Boarding bridge, nautical

A gangway is a passageway, especially a temporary or movable one that allows people to board or leave a ship, aircraft, or other vessel.

The term extends to any narrow walkway or aisle, particularly in British English where it refers to the passage between sections of seats in a theater or the House of Commons.

As an exclamation, gangway! is a command to clear the way, demanding that people step aside to let someone through.
