maiden
Young unmarried woman
Maiden is a literary or old-fashioned term for a girl, unmarried woman, or virgin.
It may also designate a servant, much like the related maid.
As an adjective, maiden either characterizes something about maidens (maiden virtues) or conveys that the thing modified is happening for the first time (a ship’s maiden voyage, maiden victory).
A maiden aunt is one who has never married.
A woman’s maiden name is her family surname, the one she used before she took her husband’s family name.
