Brigid
Ireland's patron saint
Brigid is an Irish female name, pronounced with a short *i* and hard *g*.
It derives from the Celtic goddess of fire, poetry, and healing, later syncretized with Saint Brigid of Kildare, one of Ireland's patron saints.
Spelling variants include Bridget, Brighid, and Bridgit.
The name remains common in Ireland and among Irish diaspora families.
