wicket
Cricket batsman's target
A wicket is one of two sets of three wooden stumps that batters defend in cricket—the sport's central target.
By extension, wicket refers to a batter's dismissal: They took three wickets in the first over.
In croquet, wickets are the wire hoops balls must pass through.
A wicket is also a small gate or window, especially one in a larger door or at a ticket booth.
The phrase sticky wicket describes a difficult situation, from cricket pitches made unpredictable by rain.
