tunica
Membranous anatomical wrapper
Tunica is an anatomical term for a membrane or layer of tissue that encloses or lines an organ or body part.
The word comes from Latin for tunic or covering garment, and anatomists use it to describe the layered walls of blood vessels and other tubular structures: the tunica intima is the innermost layer of an artery.
In botany, tunica refers to the outer cell layers of a plant's growing tip.
