foot-candle
Light intensity measure
A foot-candle is a unit of illumination equal to the light cast by one candle on a surface one foot away.
The term appears in lighting specifications and photography: The reading room requires fifty foot-candles at desk level.
Largely replaced by the metric lux in technical contexts, though still used in American lighting standards.
