limestone
Sedimentary calcium carbonate
Limestone is a sedite sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate, formed from the accumulated remains of marine organisms like shells and coral.
It's widely used in construction, as a building stone, and in manufacturing cement and lime.
Limestone regions often develop distinctive features like caves and sinkholes where water dissolves the rock: The cliffs were white limestone.
