Small coastal gull
A kittiwake is a small gull of northern seas, nesting in large colonies on cliff faces.
The name imitates its distinctive call.
Unlike most gulls, kittiwakes rarely scavenge inland, spending most of their lives at sea: The cliffs were white with nesting kittiwakes.
