ornithology
Science of birds
Ornithology is the scientific study of birds—their behavior, physiology, classification, and ecology.
The term applies both to the academic discipline and to serious birdwatching: She turned her childhood hobby into a career in ornithology.
Someone who studies birds professionally is an ornithologist.
