grey squirrel
Acorn-hoarding climber
A grey squirrel is a common tree squirrel native to eastern North America, now widespread in Britain where it has largely displaced the native red squirrel.
Grey squirrels have bushy tails and greyish fur, though some individuals appear reddish-brown.
They're familiar in parks and backyards, often seen burying or retrieving nuts: The grey squirrels raided the bird feeder again.
Also spelled gray squirrel.
