gull

Coastal white bird

A gull is a seabird with long wings, webbed feet, and typically gray and white plumage—the birds that wheel and cry over harbors, beaches, and parking lots.

Seagull is the common name, though gulls range far inland.

To gull someone is to deceive or trick them, treating them as credulous: He was gulled into signing away his inheritance.

A gull in this sense is a dupe.
