seagull

Coastal white bird

A seagull is a gull—any of various gray-and-white coastal birds known for scavenging.

Strictly speaking, no species is actually called "seagull," but the term is common anyway.

Gulls frequent beaches, parking lots, and dumps, often in noisy flocks: Seagulls swarmed the boardwalk looking for scraps.
