interpolation
Filling data gaps
Interpolation is inserting something into an existing sequence or text.
In mathematics and computing, it means estimating unknown values between known data points: The software uses interpolation to smooth the curve.
In textual criticism, an interpolation is material added to a document by someone other than the original author—often suspected as a later forgery or gloss.
More generally, to interpolate is to interject remarks into a conversation or narrative: He interpolated a few comments during her presentation.
