tweening

Animating between keyframes

Tweening is the process of generating intermediate frames between two keyframes in animation, creating the illusion of smooth motion.

Short for "in-betweening," it was traditionally done by hand but is now largely automated in digital animation software: The software handles all the tweening between poses.

In web design and motion graphics, tweening animates transitions between states—position, size, opacity, or color.
