heads-up display
Transparent dashboard projection
A heads-up display projects information onto a transparent surface in the user's line of sight, allowing them to see data without looking away from what they're doing.
Originally developed for fighter pilots, heads-up displays now appear in cars, showing speed and navigation on the windshield: The heads-up display kept my eyes on the road.
Often abbreviated HUD.
