glideslope
Landing beam path
A glideslope is the optimal descent path an aircraft follows when approaching a runway for landing.
Radio beams or visual indicators guide pilots to maintain the correct angle—typically around three degrees.
The term extends to any controlled descent trajectory: We're below the glideslope, Stay on the glideslope until touchdown.
Also spelled glide slope.
