crosshair

Scope's center mark

Crosshairs are the thin intersecting lines in the center of an optical instrument—a rifle scope, telescope, or camera viewfinder—used to aim or focus precisely.

The singular crosshair refers to one of these lines or to the intersection point itself.

To have someone in your crosshairs is to target them, literally or figuratively: The prosecutor has the CEO in her crosshairs.
