CRT monitor
Old boxy display
A CRT monitor is a display screen using cathode ray tube technology—the bulky, deep monitors and televisions that dominated before flat screens.
A vacuum tube fires electrons at a phosphorescent screen to create images.
CRTs were heavy and took up significant desk space but offered excellent color reproduction and response times.
Some gamers and graphic designers still prefer them for certain applications.
