glasspaper

Smoothing abrasive sheet

Glasspaper is sandpaper—abrasive paper used for smoothing wood or other surfaces.

The term is more common in British English, where it persists even though modern abrasives use aluminum oxide or silicon carbide rather than crushed glass: Give it a light rub with glasspaper before applying the finish.
