gill
Underwater oxygen extractor
One use of gill is to describe the part of a fish used for breathing.
This gill is also in the idiom to the gills, meaning as much as possible.
Some mushrooms have slits under the cap that look like gills, and are called gills.
The verb gill means use a gill net, a kind of mesh that catches on fishes’ gills when they try to escape.
A different gill is a measurement, little used today, which is equal to 1/4 of a pint.
