beck
Small English watercourse
Beck is a small stream or brook, found mainly in British English and especially in northern England: We followed the beck down through the valley.
A beck is also a gesture of summons, now almost exclusively surviving in the phrase at someone's beck and call, meaning constantly ready to obey their wishes. (Capitalized Beck is a surname.)
