Boot heel disc
A rowel is the small spiked wheel at the end of a spur, used to urge a horse forward.
The sharp points rotate against the horse's flank when the rider applies pressure.
To rowel is to goad with such a device, or figuratively to prod or provoke: She roweled him into action with pointed remarks.
