jab
Sharp, straight punch
A jab is a quick, sharp poke or punch—the kind delivered with a straight arm in boxing.
Doctors and nurses give jabs (chiefly British for injections).
To jab is to thrust something pointed or to poke repeatedly: She jabbed her finger at the map.
A verbal jab is a pointed remark meant to needle someone.
