clowns
Big-shoed comedians
Clowns are comic performers, typically in exaggerated makeup and costumes, who entertain through slapstick, physical comedy, and buffoonery.
The circus clown is the archetype, but clowns appear at children's parties, in theater, and in horror films that play on their unsettling appearance.
Informally, a clown is someone who acts foolishly: Stop clowning around.
To clown is to joke or behave playfully: We were just clowning.
