anklebone

Joint above heel

The anklebone is the talus, a bone in the ankle that connects the leg to the foot.

It sits between the tibia and the heel bone, forming the hinge that allows the foot to move up and down.

In casual use, anklebone may refer to the bony bumps visible on either side of the ankle, which are actually the ends of the tibia and fibula.
