Where lids meet

The canthus is the corner of the eye where the upper and lower eyelids meet.

Each eye has two: the inner canthus (near the nose) and the outer canthus (toward the temple).

The term appears mainly in medical and anatomical contexts: The infection spread to the inner canthus.
