electroencephalograms

Cranial electrical recordings

Electroencephalograms are recordings of electrical activity in the brain, produced by attaching electrodes to the scalp.

The resulting readout shows brain waves as wavy lines, useful for diagnosing epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other neurological conditions.

Often abbreviated EEG, which refers to both the test and its output: The EEG showed abnormal activity.
