biofeedback
Physiological self-regulation technique
Biofeedback is a technique for learning to control normally involuntary body functions—heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tension—by monitoring them with electronic sensors and receiving real-time feedback.
The idea is that awareness enables conscious influence: She used biofeedback to manage her chronic pain.
The practice bridges medicine and self-regulation training.
