theta
Angle's Greek symbol
Theta is the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet (Θ, θ), used in English primarily as a mathematical and scientific symbol.
In trigonometry, theta conventionally represents an angle: Find theta when sin θ = 0.5.
In statistics, it often denotes an unknown parameter.
Theta also names specific concepts in finance (options time decay) and neuroscience (a type of brain wave). (Capitalized Theta may be a fraternity name.)
