biopsies
Diagnostic tissue samples
Biopsies is the plural of biopsy, a medical procedure in which tissue is removed from the body for examination, typically to detect cancer or other abnormalities.
The tissue sample itself is also called a biopsy: The lab results from her biopsies came back clear.
Biopsies can be taken from nearly any organ or tissue—skin, liver, bone marrow, lymph nodes.
