dormer

Attic window projection

A dormer is a window that projects vertically from a sloping roof, creating additional headroom and light in an attic or upper floor.

The structure includes its own small roof, typically gabled or hipped.

Dormers are both functional and architectural features: The old Victorian had three dormers across the front.

We converted the attic into a bedroom and added dormers.
