Room under rafters
A loft is a space directly under a roof, typically used for storage or converted into living quarters.
In buildings, a loft often means an upper floor of a warehouse or factory converted to residential or studio use: a SoHo loft.
A loft is also an upper level in a church or barn: choir loft, hayloft.
In golf, loft refers to the angle of a club face or the height of a shot—to loft the ball is to hit it high into the air.
