dormer windows
Attic light sources
Dormer windows are windows set vertically in a structure that projects from a sloping roof.
The projection creates additional headroom and light in attic spaces: The old Victorian had three dormer windows across the front.
Often shortened to dormers.
The structure itself—roof projection plus window—is the dormer; the window is technically the dormer window.
