mullion

Vertical pane separator

A mullion is a vertical bar dividing the panes of a window, especially in Gothic architecture or traditional casement windows.

The term extends to similar dividers in doors, screens, or panels.

Mullions provide structural support and create the characteristic grid pattern of divided-light windows: The old church windows had stone mullions between the stained glass panels.
