Diagonals are lines or directions that run at an angle rather than straight up-down or side-to-side.
In geometry, a diagonal connects non-adjacent corners of a polygon: Draw the diagonals of the square.
The word extends to anything positioned at a slant: She walked diagonals across the parking lot.
In textiles, diagonals are fabrics woven with a slanted pattern.
