crisscross
Lines crossing repeatedly
Crisscross describes a pattern of lines crossing each other at angles, forming X shapes or a grid: crisscross marks on the pavement, a crisscross of hiking trails.
As a verb, to crisscross is to move back and forth across an area: We crisscrossed the country looking for the best barbecue.
The word can also describe movement or arrangement in intersecting directions: Cables crisscross overhead.
