sides

Edges of shapes

Sides are the surfaces or edges of something, distinguished from top and bottom or front and back: the sides of a box, a pain in my side.

In conflicts or debates, sides are opposing positions: Which side are you on?

A side dish accompanies a main course: I'll have fries as a side.

To side with someone is to support their position.
