nonconducting
Won't carry electricity
Nonconducting describes a material that does not readily transmit electricity, heat, or sound.
Rubber and glass are nonconducting materials, which is why they serve as insulators: The nonconducting handle prevented electric shock.
The term appears mainly in technical contexts; in everyday speech, people more often say something "doesn't conduct" or is "an insulator."
