temperament
One's baseline mood
Temperament is a person's characteristic emotional disposition—their natural tendencies toward calmness or volatility, optimism or melancholy, patience or irritability: She has an artistic temperament.
The word often implies difficulty: a horse with temperament, the temperament of a prima donna.
In music, temperament refers to systems for tuning intervals, as in equal temperament, where octaves are divided into twelve equal semitones.
